Exceptionally helpful

“I started learning with Blakes in at the end of March 2010. From my initial contact with the Office to book my first lessons, to being placed with Kate my instructor, and through to taking my test, I found the entire learning experience tailored to my needs and with the emphasis of the entire time being on me and ensuring that my skills were developed to a level to enable me to pass my practical test.

The office were always exceptionally helpful when I needed to contact them, and my instructor Kate was absolutely brilliant from start to finish with so many helpful tips that helped develop my skills in all areas of my driving.

Everytime I have been asked by friends or colleagues if I know of any good driving schools I have happily recommended Blakes to them and passed on the contact number I have for them and would strongly recommend Blakes to anyone looking to start learning to drive or for a reliable driving school for their children to start learning with.”  Jim Rogers North Cheam

Driving Test Changes Independent Driving

From the 4th of October this year, the DSA is introducing a new independent driving element to the practical driving test.
This will last for approximately 10 minutes and require the pupil to make decision for themselves. It will involve following a series of verbal directions, traffic signs or both and is meant to reflect ‘real driving’.

Here are some questions with answers provided by Rosemary Thew Chief Executive of the DSA

Driving Lessons for Morden Girls League

Driving Lessons for Morden Girls League Second Season Sponsorship

Blakes Driving School Morden is happy to support the Morden Girls Football League for a second season. The sponsorship of MGL team Denbar has been renewed and the girls are playing well, winning their last two games.

A driving lesson gift voucher, Highway Code, theory and hazard perception test package was recently donated by Blakes to the league to help in their fundraising efforts. Morden Girls League offer free football to local girls every Saturday at St Georges paying fields in Tudor Drive Morden, just along the road from Morden Driving Test centre.

Blakes first become involved with MGL following an article in the local Morden Guardian newspaper last year. This highlighted a massive increase in pitch hire fees which threatened the leagues ability to provide free football.

Morden Girls League are always keen to talk to local businesses about sponsorship, if you would like more details please use our contact us form and we will pass your details along.

Jo Passed With a Bump

Congratulations to Jo who passed her driving test first time last week and just in time for the arrival of her baby.

Jo said “I’ve just passed my test first time round, and with days to go before the birth of my 2nd child, having only started when I was 4 months pregnant. My instructor Trish has been absolutely fantastic at getting me through before my “deadline”. I’m not a natural driver and not the most confident of pupils, but her teaching ensured that I was ready for anything on the day itself and reached test standard. It’s been really enjoyable learning with Trish and I’m almost sorry that I’ve now passed – life without Trish’s lessons will be a bit dull!

Enjoy the freedom your driving license will bring Jo, its going t be so much easier getting from A to B now. Thanks for taking the time to tell us and others how pleased you were with your driving lessons with Trish.

If you would like to learn to drive with Trish and take driving lessons in Epsom, Ewell, Morden or New Malden call us on 08456 44 81 44M and pass first time like Jo did.

Testing Times

The Driving Standards Agency is going to make adjustments to the times candidates will be able to take driving tests. From the 17th May appointments for practical driving tests will be offered at the weekends, evenings and early mornings. Test times will vary at test centres and the changes will be based on individual demand.

DSA Chief Executive, Rosemary Thew, said: “These changes will ensure that our examiners’ time is focused on where it is needed most and that we make the best use of our resources. We will keep the situation under constant review and offer testing outside normal hours to provide extra capacity where it is needed.”

This initiative will hopefully give pupils the flexibility to take driving tests outside of working hours and with a little luck help reduce the waiting times for practical driving tests.
