Our team of Driving Instructors Surrey

We want to teach you to drive safely and confidently in as few driving lessons as possible. And we want you to enjoy yourself while you’re learning. Which is why we only have Driving Instructors in Surrey who are friendly, enthusiastic and love what they do.

Our Driving Instructors are ALL fully qualified, Driving Standards Agency approved and licensed. Please note we do not use trainee driving Instructors like most other schools.

And as part of our team’s continued professional development we encourage all instructors to keep updated by attending regular courses. We hold frequent meetings for all instructors which allows everyone to exchange ideas and keep informed of all the latest news and changes in the law.

Meet some of the team

Katy, Driving School Manager
Katy runs the busy day to day operations at Blakes; making sure everyone gets a lesson at a time that suits them and offering advice on anything from driving licences to driving tests. Customers say she is always cheerful and friendly and after just one call you feel like you have known her for ages. 

Dean, Driving Instructor
As part of his continued professional development Dean recently passed the Institute of Advanced Motorists Advanced Driving Test. Dean has been an instructor since 2005, drives a new Mazda 2, and takes driving lessons in Wimbledon, Sutton and Banstead, and driving lessons in Epsom. 

Paul, Driving Instructor
Paul is an ex AA instructor and has been teaching since 2002. He’s kind, patient and has been known to tell the odd joke. Sometimes they’re even quite good. Paul drives a ait conditioned Ford Fiesta and takes driving lessons in Sutton, Kingston and Wimbledon. As well as driving lessons in Banstead, Morden and Epsom.

Natalie, Driving Instructor
Natalie is a career driving instructor, having attained her Approved Driving Instructor ‘Green Badge’ at the tender age of 21. Natalie drives a Renault Clio and has been instructing since 2002. She takes driving lessons in Wimbledon, Sutton, and Epsom and driving lessons Kingston.

Kevin, Owner/Driving Instructor
Kevin started out on the road to becoming an Approved Driving Instructor in 1997 and started Blakes in 2005 with a philosophy of providing ‘quality tuition at an affordable price’. Blakes has been a local success story and continues to grow year on year. Kevin has also spent 20 years in the London Fire Brigade as a EFAD driver (emergency fire appliance driver).

Tish, Driving Instructor
Tish has been involved in the driving school industry for many years, previously managing the office of a large independent driving school. A few years ago she decided to get out on the road in her Ford Fiesta and her chatty and friendly manner has helped calm many a nervous pupil. Tish takes driving lessons in Kingston and Epsom.

Matt, Driving Instructor
Matt has been with Blakes since 2005 and has loads of patience. So if you don’t get it right straight away don’t worry! He loves to spend his spare time on the golf course improving his putting. Matt drives a new shape Ford Fiesta and takes driving lessons in Wandsworth and Kingston.

Chris, Driving Instructor
Chris has a calm and helpful manner which is guaranteed to help the most nervous pupil relax. Chris is a member of the Institute of Advanced Motorists, and can be seen whizzing round the local area in a Nissan Micra. He takes driving lessons in Sutton and Wimbledon and the surrounding areas.

Katie, Driving Instructor/Driving Instructor Trainer
Katie is a key member of the Blakes Driving Instructor training programme and regularly gives presentations on road safety and learning to drive for Merton Council Road Safety Team and Carshalton College. Katie drives a Mazda 2 and takes driving lessons in Croydon, Coulsdon,Banstead and Sutton. As well as driving lessons in Wallington.

Rick, Driving Instructor/Driving Instructor Trainer
Rick has over 20 years experience in the driving industry. He was previously a BSM instructor and head of Red Driving School; looking after the team of instructors and ADI trainers. He’s one of our Driving Instructor trainers and a fleet registered trainer he loves being in the ‘teaching seat’ of his Peugeot 207. Ricks wealth of experience and friendly manner is often used to take new instructors under his wing! Rick takes driving lessons in Wallington and Epsom. As well as driving lessons in Morden, Sutton and Carshalton.

Tony, Automatic Driving Instructor
Tony is an automatic Driving Instructor and drives around the area in an automatic dual controlled Ford Focus. Tony is a patient, friendly instructor and will wear a dress if you’re looking for a female instructor! He takes automatic driving lessons in Banstead, Sutton and Kingston. As well as driving lessons in Wallington and Wimbledon.

Kate, Driving Instructor
Kate used to own her own driving school and returned to instructing in 2008 following maternity leave. Kate really gets a kick when her pupil’s work hard and get the success they deserve. Her pupils often comment about how she puts them at ease and learning to drive with her is like learning with a friend. She drives a Peugeot 207 and takes driving lessons in Sutton, Morden, Wimbledon and Kingston. 

Phil, Driving Instructor
Phil joined Blakes in 2008 after sailing through his 3 ADI exams. He is patient, friendly and full of enthusiasm. Phil drives a Ford Focus and takes driving lessons in Streatham , Putney and also driving lessons in Richmond.

Jenni, Driving Instructor
Jenni is an ex BSM instructor and became an instructor after a successful career in retail management. Jenni loves teaching people to drive and gets as much from the ‘passes’ as her pupils do. She drives a Ford Fiesta and takes driving lessons in Sutton, Croydon, Wimbledon and Banstead.

Phillip, Driving Instructor
Phillip joined Blakes in 2007 from another national driving school as he loved the great teamwork we have at Blakes and our priority of making all pupils safe drivers. Phillip drives a new shape Ford Fiesta and takes driving lessons in Croydon and driving lessons in Streatham, Mitcham and Thornton Heath.

Rob, Driving Instructor
Rob chose to become a Driving Instructor following a career in senior management. He is extremely patient and gives 110% to his pupils. He also likes to keep an eye on future developments within the driver training industry. Rob is a Diamond Accredited Taxi Trainer (DATT) providing vocational driver trianing to Hackney carriage and Private hire drivers wanting to pass the DSA Taxi Test or the DIAmond advanced taxi test.
