Residents try to ban learners

Residents on the Fir Estate in Wanstead near Ilford have had enough of learner drivers on their streets. They have campained against learner drivers using the roads where they live to practise driving techniques. 274 letters supporting the appeal were sent to Rebridge council requesting a ban for 'all motor vehicles except for access'.

The council rejected calls for the signs to be installed at a cost of £20.000 as this would not provide a practical solution to the problem. They are now keen to get local driving schools to agree a voluntary agreement to vary tuition routes. Read more on this article in the Ilford infomer.

As a responsible local driving school we are aware of the impact driving lessons may have on local residents. We will endeavour to minimise the inconvienience our lessons have on local communities by limiting the number of times we practise an exercise in one spot and vary our training routes as much as possible.
