Morden is rich in history and human activity dates back as far as prehistoric times when Celtic tribes are known to have occupied areas around Wimbledon. The first known development in Morden was the Roman road which went from London to Chichester in West Sussex called Stane street, it followed the the route of the current London road (A24) from Morden to Stonecot Hill, passing the place where many people take their driving tests at Morden driving test centre.
