Pass Plus module 1; Introduction & Town Driving

The first module is divided into two parts:

Part 1 Introduction

Your Pass Plus driving instructor will introduce themselves and check your driving license & eyesight in the same way as on your first driving lesson. If you are driving a different car you will have a chance to get familiar with the controls and cockpit layout.

The introduction covers:

• Why Pass Plus was introduced
• The aims of the course
• Rewards that Pass Plus brings
• Importance of driver attitude
• Skills & knowledge covered by the course

The aim of Pass Plus is to develop positve driving techniques through good driver attitude, skills and knowledge. The modules are structured into 6 practical driving sessions. A theory session will take place if weather or road conditions make it impossible to practice. There is no test at the end of the Pass Plus course, instead you will be required to reach an acheived or exceeded mark for each module.

Part 2 Town Driving

This module will follow on from the Introduction and cover:

• Observation, judgement & awareness
• Making eve contact
• Giving consideration for vunerable road users
• Showing caution but avoid being over cautious
• Keeping a safe distance around your car

Your Pass Plus driving instructor will give advice and if the area allows practice on the following roads:

• Multi-lane junctions
• Unusual roundabouts
• Trams, bus, cycle & taxi lanes
• Under and over passes
